Bluffton Tea is celebrating Leap Year with a sale for Leap Day, the 29th of February!

Leap Day is an added on February 29 happen because the actual time it takes the Earth to rotate the sun is 365.2421 days. To ensure consistency with the true astronomical year, one day is added to the year in order to get the calendar back in sync with the movement of planet. This means, every four years, an additional 24 hours have to be added to the month of February.

As it only comes up every 4 years, so  Bluffton Tea is celebrating Leap Day, the 29th of February 2016.  We are  offering a discount of 29% on our new 2016 label additions.  Use Code LeapYear29, valid until 29 February 2016.

You may have read some of the Leap Year traditions revolving around women proposing to men including an Irish legend that St. Brigid struck a deal with St. Patrick to allow women to propose to men – every four years.  Along similar lines, Queen Margaret of Scotland was apparently five years old when she came up with the notorious February 29 “proposal trap”.  According to this tradition, Women either have to wear breeches or a scarlet petticoat to make the Ask.  If a man did refuse the proposal, he would be fined a kiss, a silk dress or twelve pairs of gloves.
